Bjorn has had the privilege to perform across musical mediums, ranging from symphony orchestras to fusion brass ensembles.
Bjorn's performance experience includes playing Principal Trombone with Chamber Orchestra Ogden (UT) and the Muscatine Symphony (IA), lead trombone with the Masa Ishikawa Jazz Orchestra, principal trombone with the Eastern Iowa Brass Band, and trombone with the brass fusion ensemble Brass Tower.
As a chamber musician, Bjorn has had the opportunity to perform extensively with mixed brass and trombone ensembles. Past performances include recitals at the 2018 and 2023 International Trombone Festivals and a joint recital with Mirari Brass Quintet. Bjorn is also a founding member of the Salt Lake City based Canyons Brass Quintet.
As a performer, Bjorn has had the privilege of performing under the baton of Dr. Richard Mark Heidel, Manny Laureano, Dr. William LaRue Jones, and Dr. Robert Baldwin.
Bjorn's recent engagements include performing Arthur Pryor's Fantastic Polka with the Minnesota Valley Community Band, membership in the participant class of the 2023 Southeast Trombone Symposium held in Columbus, Georgia, a recital with the Utah Trombone Quartet at the 2023 International Trombone Festival held in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a residency with the Utah Chamber Brass Collective at the Taft-Nicholson Environmental Humanities Center in Centennial Valley, Montana.
Bjorn's teachers include Dr. Jonathan Allen, Dr. Donn Schaefer, Mark Davidson, and his grandfather Dr. Thomas Swanson.
